About the artist: Edward Sturr
Edward Sturr was born in Illinois where he practiced and taught photography
before moving to Kansas in 1974. His interest in the landscape lead him to
photograph the tall grass prairie, and the Konza Prairie in particular, where
he has worked intensively since 1990.
Edward meticulously hand colors black and white enlarged photographic prints using a variety of colored pencils. His work has been in many exhibitions and has won a number of awards including a Mid-America Arts Alliance/National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Photography. In 1997 he started his Prairie Light Studio offering signed and numbered limited edition lithographic prints of his Konza Prairie hand colored photographs. His studio has now expanded to include a variety of photographs of the Konza and the Flint Hills area. |
